Just across the river from Rea Rea Lodge, Kangaroo Valley Village invites you to discover it’s charm and rich history. Dating back to the 1870s, this township is filled with colonial shopfronts, a heritage-listed pub, and friendly locals who welcome you to linger for a while.
Cross Hampden Bridge, with its sandstone turrets and graceful arches, then find everything you need close by. The General Store and Newsagent for essentials, Sweet As Kangaroo Valley for treats, and the Pioneer Village Museum, a peaceful spot for a stroll and to connect with the Valley’s past.

Begin your day slowly (a short drive from Rea Rea Lodge) with barista-made coffee in hand as you wander beneath the trees, gathering seasonal produce, freshly baked pastries, local honey and handcrafted treasures. Meet the farmers and creators behind each stall, share stories, and experience the warmth of a community that takes pride in its land and its craft.
Return to Rea Rea Lodge with your market finds and enjoy a long, leisurely brunch overlooking the valley. A simple, beautiful way to live like a local while indulging in the quiet luxury of your retreat.

For a more relaxed, but just as memorable experience, Kangaroo Valley Horses offers horseback rides through 360 acres of diverse bushland and farmland, including picturesque river crossings that reveal the valley’s beauty from a unique vantage point.

From clifftop lookouts to winding forest trails, our region boasts some of the South Coast’s most breathtaking walks. Here are three standout hiking trails in Kangaroo Valley to help you experience the landscape from every angle.
Cambewarra Mountain Lookout
Experience the scenic wonders of Cambewarra Mountain Lookout, perched high on the summit of the Cambewarra Range, or wander through the various ecosystems on your hike up to Drawing Room Rocks. Both lookouts provide breathtaking views from Coolangatta Mountain to Jervis Bay National Park.
Three Views Walking Track
A mostly flat trail that leads to 3 stunning cliff-edge lookouts, offering sweeping views over Lake Yarrunga, Tallowa Dam, and the Shoalhaven River gorges. In late winter and spring, the track bursts to life with colourful wildflowers. Suitable for all fitness levels and older children with plenty of native wildlife to spot.
Fitzroy Falls Lookout
Just a two-minute walk from the Visitor Centre, this wheelchair-accessible lookout lets you feel the mist and hear the thunder of Fitzroy Falls. Want more? From here, you can explore up to 10km of scenic bush trails starting at the same spot.

LOCAL FLORA
AND FAUNA
Kangaroo Valley’s national parks, rainforests, rivers, waterfalls, and mountains create a thriving sanctuary for countless native wildlife. As you wander the trails, you may spot wallabies, echidnas, lyrebirds, king parrots, and wedge-tailed eagles — all thriving in the valley’s bushland.
Bendeela Recreation Area, set beside the tranquil Kangaroo River, is a perfect place for a picnic, fishing or a relaxing afternoon under the shade of the trees. At dusk, wombats and Eastern grey kangaroos often come out to graze peacefully in the open fields.
